Description
Here's my entry in the Dodge Art Contest.
I wasn't sure what I wanted to try for this. But once I visited the Dodge website and did some reading on the specifics of the car, the one thing that jumped out at me was the Tigershark engine. Bingo.
I wanted to come up with an image that tied directly to the Dodge Dart's 16-valve 2.4L (184 hp) Tigershark MultiAir engine. I also wanted to convey as much action and energy as possible.
I did several concept sketches with pencil and paper. Some were just warm up sketches of sharks, trying to get the feel for how to apply those shapes to that of the car without loosing the design callouts of the car. The basic rough sketch of the "shark-car" was scanned in and used as the template for the car painting.
Car elements from the asset pack were cut up and altered to match up with the sketch and used as the base image for the final painting. Everything else was painted using Photoshop CS5 and my Intuos4 tablet. The beaded water droplets were hand drawn with a black marker, scanned and finished in Photoshop.
Had a lot of fun working on this. Thanks for taking the time to check it out and for any thoughts you might like to share.
Take care!
