Here's another Transformers movie-type head design. This time, a personal favorite of mine, Soundwave. I wanted to preserve as much of the classic look (shapes, colors) of the character while updating it for the 21st centry. I wanted his face to have a lot to do with sound, obviously. I tried to include some audio type imagery in the face. I tried to image that creepy deep voice coming out of all the vent/speaker shapes on his face, not from just a plain mouth.

Hope you enjoy.

Photoshop image based on a rough pencil sketch. Total time: about 4 hrs

Finally, a movie version of my favorite character - who I still can't believe didn't make it into the Transformers movie. How can you have a Transformers movie based off of G1 Transformers without Soundwave? Awesome job, by the way! I like how he preserves his old appearance while gaining some nice facial details.

Very recognizable and still fits well with the whole look and feel the movie has. I don't suppose we can expect a full body version with alt mode any time soon?

That's excellent! I expecially love the reflection effects on the visor. I could see this as the head of my character, Archanubis.

Dreamworks should hire you if they get enough to make a sequel. ;)
