Here's another very rough sketch I came up with for a cover/pin-up concept for the Ronin Studios "Hope" comic, which will be sold to raise money for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. The type is mainly for placement and to see if the image works as an overall design with a type element.

Colored pencil sketch with photoshop shading.

I hope to know which rough is approved for me to go to finish on in the near future. In the meantime, thank you in advance for any comments you might have.

Betweeen this on and the other, I definitly like this one better.... they are both excellent, but this one shows more of what the city is know for, and what we stand to lose... I absolutly adore this sketch!!!

This one is just as good as the other one. It shows despair, but also hope. People, in misery, coming to terms with what happened. Slowly, but eventually they will. Again, great! :+fav:

One can hear the slow, plaintive strains of the funeral version of "When the Saint Go Marching In" just looking at this image!

Very effective and well-done image. This one 'reads' faster than the previous one, but it's difficult to say which carries more impact. That little girl with her teddy bear was a potent image! In a way, they're apples and oranges when it comes to comparing them. Yet they both carry the feeling of loss and hope. :shamrock:

From the feedback I've recieved here and on other boards, this one is as you say "a quicker read". Thanks for your kind words. I haven't heard where either of these pieces fit into the book yet (if at all). When I find out, updated versions (inked, then colored) will be up soon. Your comments are always helpful!

Thanks!

I spent two years at my local community college earning certificates in Graphic Design and Photography. Although I never made a career out of either, I do try to apply what I learned when giving critiques and comments. It's good to know that I didn't waste my money. ;)
