Doublecross IDW Cover Contest

Here's my submission for the IDW Cover Contest being held on their boards. The assignment was to create a ready for color inked cover featuring a main character and 2 supporting characters in a specific setting.

I'm in the Doublecross group. Windcharger and Scrapper must also be included. The setting is a jungle on Earth.

I had a lot of fun with this piece. It was fun to try and balance the different references available for each character. I wanted to have as much toy accuracy as possible while keeping the classic cartoon and current comic looks in mind.

After working up some roughs, I penciled and inked all elements separately. That's 3 full figures and 2 background elements. I wanted maximum editing potential and I wanted to be able to color the elements separately later (painted, fully rendered background and cel style coloring for the figures).
